ZL Safari & Hunting Outfitter, encompassing Smitswinkel & Tiel hunting farms, is a family-owned and managed safari and hunting company. A small group of hunters and observers ensures a personal hunt and safari experience.

Our farms are located in Marken, Limpopo Province, South Africa. Limpopo Province is renowned as the prime hunting area in South Africa. We are a three-and-a-half-hour drive away from O.R. Tambo International Airport. Towns close-by include Lephalale, Marken, and Mokopane – all of which are well-known tourist attractions and prime hunting areas.

The van Zyl Family will be your hosts. Being the owners, a personalized and unforgettable safari is guaranteed. Come and experience a taste of South Africa’s renowned hospitality. Philip and Reed will be your PH’s. Elmarie and Elmé will see to your personal needs at base camp and treat you to the best traditional South African food. We are family-friendly, and kids are more than welcome!

The bushveld is known as the prime hunting area in South Africa. Trophies of the highest quality can be obtained in this well-known biosphere.

We are proud members of The Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA) under membership numbers VZY031 and VZY070 and outfitter permit ZA/LP/113501 and the South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SAHGCA). We adhere strictly to the rules and regulations as prescribed by these governing bodies.

We strongly advocate conservation as it is key to a sustainable and productive hunting environment. Due to successful conservation, trophies can be taken on a regular basis.

We are dedicated to providing you with an authentic African hunting experience.

We accommodate all levels of hunting skills, ranging from seasoned hunters to novice hunters with little or no field experience.

Both rifle and bow hunting are facilitated on the farms.

My wife and I met Philip and Reed at a fundraising dinner in 2018. We have since hunted with them on 2 seperate occasions, in 2021 and in 2023 along with our grandson Baron. While we were out hunting my wife Lori enjoyed the view of the watering hole 100 yards away from our chalet, from where she saw giraffe, kudu, zebra and more. She would also go out on game drives while we were out hunting.
